Background and investing philosophy

I have been an active investor since 1999 at the age of 18. Over the years I have learned to execute the principles of what I call “information arbitrage”, where asymmetric risk/reward is a key factor in each investing decision regardless of asset class.

$30,000 to $7M+ in 10 years

I took a $30,000 401k loan in late 2012 when I worked in corporate America for my first real bet on my information arbitrage concept in urban real estate downtown in my hometown of Charleston, SC. In the 10 years since, that $30,000 is worth $8M+ which I’ve made largely between short-term rentals (STRs) and Bed & Breakfast (B&B) properties.
